We love to enjoy fruit as a side dish, a light dessert, or a sweet snack. These kabobs are a fun twist on a traditional Fruit Salad Recipe.

Serving fruit kabobs are easy and beautiful, perfect for family dinners, birthday parties, holidays, summer picnics, and potlucks.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strawberries, tops cut off– other red fruits: watermelon, raspberries, cherries, red apples
  • 1 cup cantaloupe, cubed – other orange fruits: orange slices (clementine, cuties, tangerines), mango
  • 1 cup pineapple, cubed – other yellow fruits: peach, pear, banana 
  • ยฝ cup kiwi, peeled and sliced other green fruits: kiwi, green grapes, green apples, honeydew
  • ยฝ cup red grapes other blue fruits: purple grapes, plums
  • ยฝ cup blackberries other purple fruits: blueberries, dark purple grapes

Keep Fruit Fresh

Some of the fruit needs to be treated to avoid browning.

  • Fresh fruit powder
  • Soak in lemon water: Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice per 1 cup of water soak for 5-10 minutes.
  • Bananas brown quite quickly, even with treatment. Add the banana right before serving or put the banana on the skewer with the peel on. Remove the peel before serving. 
  • Cut fruit can be stored in the fridge for 3-5 days.

How to Make Fruit Kabobs

  1. PREP. Prepare all fruit by washing and cutting or cubing.
  2. ASSEMBLE. Add fruit onto skewers in rainbow order, piercing through the sharp side – 1 cup strawberries, 1 cup cantaloupe, 1 cup pineapple, ยฝ cup kiwis, ยฝ cup red grapes, and ยฝ cup blackberries.
  3. SERVE. Place on a platter. Cover with Saran wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Recipe Tips

Many of the softer fruits can be cut into shapes. Slice the fruit thick enough to easily go on a skewer; about 1 inch. Use a small metal cookie cutter to stamp out a shape or a melon baller.

Ingredients

Instructions 

  • Prepare all fruit by washing and cutting or cubing.

Serving suggestions. Dip fruit in Fruit Dip, Caramel Apple Dip, Yogurt Fruit Dip, Nutella Dip, or Apple Brickle Dip Recipe. Drizzle with honey or chocolate sauce.

Recipe FAQ

  • No need to soak the bamboo skewers for fruit kabobs because they will not be put on the grill. 
  • Lie them flat on a platter.
  • Place florist foam inside a wide-mouth vase or bowl. Stick the fruit skewers in the block.
  • Use half a watermelon. Cut a melon in half; lengthwise. Remove the fruit, flip the rind over, and stick the fruit skewers into the outside of the melon. 
  • Cut a head of iceberg lettuce in half and place it on a platter with the flat side down. Stick the skewers into the lettuce head. 
  • Fruit can be cut ahead of time and either stored in separate bowls or assembled on the skewers. Some of the fruit needs to be treated to avoid browning.
